When a person is reading a saga like The Chronicles of Blood and Stone it is nice to be refreshed in the series before opening the cover to the new book. This page is a tool to be used for just that purpose.
Rob has also written summaries for the fans to get caught up for the release of the next, new book: The Fifth Sorceress, The Gates of Dawn, The Scrolls of the Ancients, and Savage Messiah.
It will be updated by Rob with each additional novel, and since it is written by the author it contains his thoughts on each subject. If you would like to see something else listed here from the novels, write Shawn.

- Eutracia - One of only two known nations in the world. Lying to the west of the Sea of Whispers, it is bordered on the west by the still-uncrossed Tolenka Mountains.
- Parthalon - The nation lying to the east of the Sea of Whispers, and the one- time place of banishment for the Coven of Sorceresses.
- Paragon - The magic gemstone that serves as the conduit between the two orbs of the craft, and those persons of endowed blood.
- Vigors - The beneficent, compassionate side of the craft. Also referred to as one of the three volumes of the Tome.
- Vagaries - The darker side of the craft, that seeks to rule only by means of death and destruction. Also referred to as one of the three volumes of the Tome.
- Prophecies - The third and final volume of the Tome. It is the volume that speaks of what is to be, and is supposedly the only volume that Tristan alone is to eventually read.
- Tome - The great instruction book of the craft of magic, left behind by the Ones Who Came Before.
- Blood Signature - The individual shape that trained, living, endowed blood forms, upon being freed from the body. Untrained, endowed blood may also show its blood signature, provided it is combined with an equal amount of the waters of the Caves of the Paragon. The half comprised of sharp angles indicates the blood of the owner’s father, and the softer lines of the other half indicate the blood of the subject’s mother.
- Forestallment - A spell that can be placed into the blood signature of an endowed person. Once activated, it grants the subject immediate access to a particular art of the craft, without the need for the subject’s blood to be trained first. A forestallment’s presence is revealed as branches, that lead crazily away from the main body of a blood signature.
- Caves of the Paragon - The Caves in which the Ones who Came Before hid both the Tome and the Paragon, in their fervent hope that these items would be found by those supportive of the Vigors, rather than the Vagaries.
- The Sorceress’s War - The failed civil war of more than three centuries ago that was led by Failee, Wigg’s late wife.
- The War of Attrition - The great conflict mentioned in the Tome that occurred eons ago between The Ones Who Came Before, and The Heretics of the Guild. It is believed by Wigg and Faegan that these two opposing groups of the craft annihilated one another, but that theory has yet to be proven or disproven.
- The Redoubt - The secret place of learning that lies deep beneath the royal palace in Tammerland. Once the place of training for the consuls, it is now the province of the Acolytes.
- Shadowood - A secret place created by the Wizards of the Directorate near the end of the Sorceresses’ War. Shadowood was meant as a last refuge of the Vigors, should the sorceresses have won their civil war to see the Vagaries rule the craft.
- The Orb of the Vigors - The fountainhead of the Vigors of the craft. It’s visible form is that of a great, shining, golden orb, forever spinning on its axis.
- The Orb of the Vagaries - The fountainhead of the Vagaries of the craft. The orb is seen a dark, foreboding sphere, literally dripping with destructive energy. The two orbs are constantly drawn towards one another but must never touch, lest the entire world be destroyed.
- The Recluse - The onetime Parthalonian fortress of the Coven of Sorceresses.
- Consul - One of a number of lesser wizards once devoted to the late Directorate, and bound to go forth into the countryside to secretly perform good deeds for the benefit of Eutracia’s unendowed citizens.
- Acolytes of the Redoubt - A secret society of endowed women. The female counterparts to the consuls, the acolytes are also trained in the craft, and are devoted followers of the Vigors.
- Dreggan - The long, curved sword carried by the Minions of Day and Night.
When a hidden button in its hilt is pressed, the blade of the sword quickly extends another foot.
- Fliers of the Fields - The giant, endowed butterflies that are indigenous to Eutracia.
- Minions of Day and Night - The winged, ruthless warriors originally bred by Failee to serve as her taskmasters, and her army. Tristan is now their sworn lord.
- Berserkers - Grotesque humanoids that prowl the forests and treetops of Shadowood, and feed on gnomes. It is thought that they are the unfortunate by-product of the Directorate’s long ago creation of Shadowood.
- The Sea of Whispers - The vast ocean separating Eutracia and Parthalon.
- The Directorate of Wizards - The onetime body of wizards that was formed just after the Sorceresses’ War, and who swore to forever preserve and advance the cause of the Vigors. Except for Faegan and Wigg, they were all killed when the coven unexpectedly returned from Parthalon.
- Gnomes - The little people of Shadowood, who are fiercely loyal to the wizard Faegan. They include Shannon and Shawna the Short, and Michael and Mary the Meager, among others.
- Gallipolai - Genetic offshoots of the Minions, who are born with blond hair and white wings. Once having served only as slaves for the Minions, they have now been freed by Tristan, and are allowed to marry into the Minion ranks.
- The Ones Who Came Before - The original masters of the Vigors. Little is known of them, except that they were the writers of the Tome, and hid both the Tome and the Paragon in the Caves, just before the end of the War of Attrition that supposedly wiped them out, eons ago.
- The Heretics of the Guild - The original masters of the Vagaries, thought to have perished in their War of Attrition against The Ones.
- Hall of Blood Records - The great chamber in the Redoubt that houses copies of the blood signatures of all of those endowed persons of Eutracia, (both living and dead).
- Archives of the Redoubt - The massive library of the Redoubt, that houses all of the research of the craft amassed by the Directorate and the consuls since the discovery of the Tome.
- Time Enchantment - A spell that grants one of endowed blood freedom from old age, and disease. It stops the aging process at the moment of its application. It does not, however, protect one from suffering a violent death.
- Faegan's Portal - A whirling vortex of the craft that only Faegan commands. Upon entering the portal, one is whisked away to a predetermined destination in a matter of seconds.
- Necrophagians - (Also known as The Eaters of the Dead.) Beings that haunt the Sea of Whispers, and show themselves as ghoulish faces that lay atop the surface of the water. They stop the ships of those brave enough to try and cross the sea, and demand to feast upon their bodies of the sailors as payment for others to cross.
- Swamp Shrew - Very large, rat-like creatures that were created by the Coven of Sorceresses, to wreak vengeance upon the citizens of Parthalon, should the coven perish in its attempt to conquer Eutracia.
- Kachinaar - The Minion ritual of determining the guilt or innocence of one of their own, who has been accused of a crime. If the accused survives the selected ordeal, he is judged to be innocent. Although Tristan finds it repugnant, he has yet to outlaw the practice, for fear of a Minion backlash.
- Fledgling House - The small castle nested at the base of the Tolenka Mountains, that once served as the training place of the Acolytes of the Redoubt.
- The Chosen Ones - Tristan of the House of Galland, and his twin sister, Shailiha. The Tome states that when they finally come unto the earth, their blood shall be of a quality never before seen among the endowed. And that it will be this amazing blood that Tristan will one day use to finally combine the two opposing sides of the craft for the good of the world. Should the male of the chosen ones die, or fail in his attempt to do this, then the task shall fall to Shailiha.
- Bloodstalkers - Wizards who had the misfortune of being captured by the coven during the Sorceresses’ War, and turned to Failee’s cause. Sometimes protected by time enchantments, they ruthlessly seek out males of trained, endowed blood, killing them on the spot.
