• Tristan of the House of Galland - The crowned prince of Eutracia, and son of the late king and queen, Nicholas and Morganna. The male of The Chosen Ones, it is his destiny to one day combine the two opposing sides of the craft. It is said that the quality of his blood knows no equal in the world. • Shailiha of the House of Galland - Twin sister to Tristan, and the female of The Chosen Ones. Should Tristan die, or fail in his attempt to combine the two sides of the craft, that task shall fall to Shailiha. The quality of her endowed blood is second only to Tristan’s. Blood quality: fully endowed.

• Morganna - Shailiha’s infant daughter, who is the product of the princess and Frederick, Shailiha’s late husband who was killed by the Coven. Blood quality: partially endowed.

• Wigg - Onetime Lead Wizard of the Directorate of Wizards, permanent counselor to the king, and mentor to Tristan and Shailiha. More than three centuries old, Wigg is protected by time enchantments, and is reputed to be the second most powerful wizard in the world. It was Wigg who first discovered the Tome and the Paragon. Blood quality: fully endowed.

• Faegan - The most powerful known wizard in the world, he commands the power of Consummate Recollection, allowing him to recall anything he had ever seen, heard, or read; he also commands the azure portal, allowing him to transport persons and things between distant points. Confined to a chair on wheels as a result of his torture by the coven, he has yet to find a cure for his ravaged, partially destroyed legs. Also protected by the time enchantments, he was a recluse in Shadowood for more than three hundred years until the unexpected return of the coven brought him back to Tammerland. Blood quality: fully endowed.

• Celeste - The long-lost daughter of Wigg and Failee, only recently returned to her father after having escaped Ragnar, the half-wizard, half-blood stalker who had kept her his prisoner for more than three centuries. Protected by the time enchantments, she is more than three hundred years old, and she loves Tristan with all of her heart. Blood quality: fully endowed.

• Traax - The Minion warrior who is second in command of the Minions of Day and Night. Intelligent and brave, his loyalty to Tristan as Lord of the Minions is unswerving. Blood quality: unendowed.

• Ox - The huge, rather slow-minded Minion warrior who is the proud, self-appointed bodyguard to Tristan. What Ox lacks in wit, he more than makes up for in loyalty and courage. Blood quality: unendowed.

• Geldon - The hunchbacked dwarf who was for more than three centuries the slave of Succiu, one of the Mistresses of the Coven. After helping Tristan and Wigg destroy the sorceresses, he came to Eutracia and is now a loyal follower of Tristan and the prince’s wizards. Blood quality: unendowed.

• Shannon the Small - One of the gnomes of Shadowood, he was also the keeper of the bridge that protected Shadowood from the rest of the known world. Husband to Shawna the Short, his love of ale sometimes gets the better of him. Blood quality: unendowed.

• Shawna the Short - Wife of Shannon, part-time nanny to Morganna, and self-appointed chief cook at the royal palace. Hard-working, stern, and opinionated- but also possessing a good heart- she likes to think that she rules the roost. She is often overheard arguing with Shannon, especially when he drinks too much. Blood quality: unendowed.
